AUBURN – The artwork of Carole Rickards of Peru will be on display at Central Maine Community College through December.

Rickards has a degree in art from the University of Maine at Augusta. She has taken additional courses and studied with Oscar Legere, Ilene Kerr and Kay Seething. Richards has been commissioned to paint peoples’ homes, pets, landscapes and still-lifes.

Rickards has won purchase awards, peoples’ choice awards, and she has had a painting published in Down East Magazine. She also teaches acrylic and watercolor painting to all ages.

The 14 paintings on display consist of prints and original pieces. They capture scenes from nature, a theme that holds a certain fascination with the artist.

Rickards said her heart lies in realism and imitating “the tangible aspects of creation,” but with her own individual twist. Among the works in the display are depictions of various birds: orioles, hummingbirds, bluejays and buntings, in forest and backyard settings.

The display is located in Jalbert Hall. Call the reception desk, 755-5100, for hours. All of the works on display are for sale. Inquiries regarding their purchase may be sent to Rickards at 562-8627.
