ORONO – Mary Louise Wing Zimba, 87, of Oakland, died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Orono Commons Nursing Home in Orono.

Born in Phillips, Dec. 17, 1916, she was the daughter of Livy (Gray) and Theodore French.

She retired from Diamond International Corp. in Oakland in 1979, after 38 years of service. Most of those years were spent as an inspector.

She maintained a large garden at her home. She enjoyed canning and made preserves for sale along with strawberries at her road side stand.

She was married for 36 years to Joseph Zimba, who predeceased her on May 9, 1977.

Surviving is her daughter, Janice (Mecham) Kelly and her husband, Donald, of Augusta; grandchildren, Janeen Violette of Augusta, and James Violette and his wife, Janice, of Holden; a grandson, Joseph Violette of Clinton; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn and Christine; and her brothers, Richard, Brackett, Philip, Clyde and Blyn.
