WATERFORD – The Waterford-Stoneham Lions Club met Dec. 9 at the Bear Mountain Inn with 20 members present.

King Lion President Paul Hersey opened the meeting at 7 p.m. It was noted that the Charter Night banquet and program was a success, and thank-you notes are being sent to those who bought ads and to those who supported the group.

The Lions Club will serve the community by raising funds for Stoneham Rescue emergencies and for a dental program for elementary school students. The club will adopt an elementary school student and help with school supplies.

A potluck supper and appetizers were served after the meeting and the Christmas party was held.

Gail Meka spoke about Stoneham Rescue, told how expensive their equipment has been and said all donations are welcome.

It was suggested the club might have a golf tournament or lobster bake in the summer to help raise funds.

The next meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 13, at the Stoneham Rescue. There will be refreshments.
