Editor’s note: Every day there are rays of light that shine into the lives of people through their neighbors, their co-workers, their families and even through complete strangers. This column is devoted to exposing these sunbeams to the light and offering readers an opportunity to share good news. We plan to occasionally offer up our own sunbeams, too.
Rescue
On Sept 3, I was seriously injured in a car-motorcycle accident in Manchester. That night there were two nurses who stopped and gave me care and comfort. I have tried without success to find out their identities so I could properly express my gratitude.
I hope they will read this letter and accept my sincere appreciation for their efforts. They certainly helped to save my life, and I will always remember them. Thank God for their care.
Also, my thanks to many others, both passersby and rescue workers, who assisted at the scene.
Betty Krizinauskas, Winthrop
New building
Thank you to the school board, the building committee, but most of all to the citizens of Lewiston who went out to vote on Dec. 7 in favor of the new Farwell School project.
As you all know, this building is 51 years old and is in disrepair, and a new building is really needed. There will soon be lots of joy and sorrow in the coming year associated with Farwell School.
Many residents have attended Farwell along with their children, so this will be a time of sorrow for them to see this building come down. For others, it will be a time of joy to see a new building come to life in our community that will provide a safe and comfortable environment for our children.
Either way, we all need to keep in mind that it’s the fond memories and the school spirit that makes Farwell what it is today and what it will be in the future.
Keep in mind that we are getting a new building, not a new Farwell, so out with the old and in with the new – building that is.
Diane Feely, Lewiston, chairperson of Friends of Farwell
