EAST DIXFIELD – The Countryfolk Music Theatre is planning a free Maine Musicians Museum in the summer of 2005.

Larry Bisbee, director, said they are in need of mannequins, mannequin heads and legs to use for saloon girls. The display will have country/western theme exhibits, video, photos of Maine songwriters and musicians, vintage photos of Maine musicians and lots of music. Some displays will have recorded music of current musicians.

“This is yet another way for the Countryfolk Music Theatre to offer a venue to showcase Maine country music talent,” Bisbee said. “We’re going to have some fun putting this together with you. Anything you may have to donate would be appreciated, from old boots to hats, spurs to saddles, broken guitars and musical instruments, to worn-out western duds. Any condition is fine and will be appreciated.”

Old photographs are also being requested. All originals will be returned.

Countryfolk Music Theatre projects are always free and for families and friends of country music. The theatre offers free Country Sunday Jam sessions from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

Plans include a dedication of the project at the Wild West Show and Country Music Weekend, July 29, 30 and 31. Overnight camping is rustic, but free. Anyone who would like to be on the show schedule that weekend is asked to let Bisbee know as soon as possible. All donations received will be given to Countryfolk Youth Music Scholarships. They hope to be able to award $1,000 this year.
