LEWISTON – A surprise party was held on June 20 for Phil and Gisele Chabot of Lewiston, on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. The gathering was held following a 10:30 a.m. Mass, at which the couple renewed their vows. Msgr. Rene Mathieu officiated at the renewal. The vows were written by the couple and Mr. Chabot sang “For Babbie” at the end of the ceremony, as he had done at the original ceremony 25 years ago. Their daughter, Kelley was maid of honor and their son, Kristopher was best man.

Lisa Smith, neighbor of the couple, planned the event at her home, with the assistance of family, friends and neighbors.

Posters and pictures by Kelley Chabot, daughter, and Dick Eccles, friend, were displayed. Flowers were by Dorothy Chabot, sister-in-law. Toastmasters were Kelley Chabot, daughter, and Juliette Gallant, mother.

A surprise party was also held on July 26 and was attended by family and friends at a family-style potluck barbecue. The couple received gifts and viewed the renewal of their vows previously. The couple then danced to “Remember When,” by Alan Jackson.

Mr. Chabot and the former Gisele Gallant were married on June 22, 1979, at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. The couple has two children, Kelley and Kristopher Chabot.

Mrs. Chabot is a driver for Goodwin’s Volvo. She is on the environmental committee at Holy Cross, a youth mentor for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and a volunteer at Central Maine Medical Center. She enjoys painting, interior design and floral arranging.

Mr. Chabot is assistant service manager at Goodwin’s Volvo. He is a cantor with his sister, Marguerite, at Holy Cross Church, a musician and vocalist for Cornerstone, an adult contemporary Christian band, a Eucharistic minister at Holy Cross and is an occasional DJ at the Ramada Inn.
