FARMINGTON – The Foothills Arts Center is offering a new creative learning opportunity for kids ages 6 through 10. “Drawing for Kids” is a five-week workshop to be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Jan. 8 to Feb. 5, at the Foothills Arts Center near Meetinghouse Park in downtown Farmington. Young people of all levels of ability and experience are welcome.

The Foothills Arts Center, founded in 1989, is known for its education and community programs that create a supportive and nurturing environment for people to stretch their minds and imaginations.

Instructor Brent Laflin has a degree in art and has experience teaching art to people of all ages.

The workshop participants will explore all kinds of drawing techniques and materials, including pastels, charcoal and pencil. They will create drawings from their imagination and from the world around them. Laflin will teach the kids about line, shadow, shape and texture and how to put them all together to complete their compositions.

The program fee is $37.50 a child. Sliding fees are available for people who cannot afford the full amount. For more information and to sign up, contact Director Anne Geller at 778-0448 or info@foothillsarts.org. or visit on the Web at foothillsarts.org.
