CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – A New Hampshire National Guard sergeant is making some friends in Iraq with his harmonica.

Sgt. First Class Ed Haggett of Fremont is with the Mountain Company of the Guard’s 172nd Infantry Regiment. The guard says that while Haggett’s unit was delivering supplies to a school, he pulled out a harmonica and began playing.

Guard spokesman Greg Heilshorn said Haggett was like a magnet to the kids, who crowded around to hear him play.

Haggett and his wife, Terry, wrote to the Hohner Harmonica Co. about the episode and asked if the company could donate some harmonicas to the school.

It came through with three dozen, which Haggett handed out, with some basic music lessons.
