PARIS – Market Square Health Care in Paris is once again open to visitors.

Immediate family members were allowed to enter the facility early in the week, and all visiting restrictions were lifted Wednesday, once a flu outbreak had cleared.

“The staff at Market Square is very thankful for the community’s patience and willingness to comply with our steps,” said Tracey Geary, a spokeswoman for Western Maine Health.

Western Maine Health owns the Market Square facility.

The care facility restricted visitors after a case of flu was reported Christmas Eve. Geary said the measure was intended to protect the health of residents and patients.

While the visiting restrictions have been lifted, Market Square always requests that “anyone who has a cold or flu symptoms refrain from visiting,” Geary said.

As of Dec. 30, one case of the flu was confirmed at the facility and 16 patients had displayed flu-like symptoms.

Geary said patients were restricted from interacting as well as receiving visitors. As of Wednesday, however, all normal programs and group activities had resumed.
