FARMINGTON – The wedding of Aysun Beserik and Jason Michael Simpson was held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 6 at the Simpson homestead. John Bogar, notary public, officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Simpson is the daughter of Yildiz Beserik of Istanbul, Turkey, and the late Nefi Beserik. Mr. Simpson is the son of Mark and Lauren Simpson of Farmington.

The bride, given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Ali Yasar Gunal, wore a white gown with flowing ruffles and carried a bouquet of ivory and pink roses.

Goksun Gunal, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Sanem Motram and Semra Firat, all of Istanbul, friends of the bride.

Jacob Bogar, friend of the bridegroom, performed the duties of best man and ushers were Caleb Simpson and Cedric Simpson, brothers of the bridegroom, Averill Lovely and Timothy Motram, friends of the couple and Joel Smith, friend of the bridegroom.

A reception followed in Farmington. The couple is planning a trip to India or Vietnam in January.

The bride received a degree in chemistry from Marmara University in Istanbul, where she was Valedictorian of her class. She also received a master’s degree from Yeditepe University in Istanbul. She is employed as a secondary science teacher at Enka Schools in Istanbul.

The bridegroom received a bachelor’s degree in English education and environmental science from the University of Maine at Farmington. He is employed as a high school English teacher at Robert College of Istanbul.
