RUMFORD – Martha Stewart Newell and Richard Edward Maier were joined in marriage on Oct. 9 at St. Athanasius-St. John Church in Rumford, with Deacon Rodney Berger officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Charles and Catherine Newell of Greenwood and the bridegroom is son of Robert and Mary Maier of McCall, Idaho.

Vera Agostini of Seattle, Wash., and Martha Love of Boston, served as attendants to the bride and John Maier of Pittsburgh, Pa., brother of the bridegroom, was his witness. Molli Kozachok of St. Paul, Minn., Brick Maier of Dublin, Ireland, and Alec K. Newell of Bryant Pond, all siblings of the couple, served as readers.

A dinner reception followed at the Phoenix House and Well in Newry.

The bride is a graduate of Gould Academy and Middlebury College and the bridegroom is a graduate of Villanova University. They are currently residing in Seattle, Wash.
