NORWAY – The Heywood Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the home of Rowena Palmer, 286 Round the Pond Rd. The program will be a cooking demonstration by Palmer’s daughter, Cheryl Wixon, who has appeared on the “What’s for Suppah” show on Maine PBS with Tim Sample.

She will speak and demonstrate a “cocktail,” spiced nuts, a veggie quiche, winter fruit skewers and applesauce cupcakes.

Bethel drive

BETHEL – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at the Sunday River Mahoosic Room, South Ridge. For information or to take an appointment, call 1-800-482-0743.

Blood drive

PARIS – A blood drive will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at the South Paris Legion Hall. Walk-ins are welcome. Call Marilyn Ramsay at 743-5723 to make an appointment.

Benefit supper

OXFORD – Grace Fellowship Church of Oxford will hold a benefit supper and concert at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at the church, Poplar Street (off Aspen). All proceeds will go to Stanley and Linda Carroll.

Stanley, who is disabled and facing the possibility of going on dialysis, and Linda were recently in an automobile accident. Their car was totalled and Linda broke her wrist, preventing her from being able to work.

The menu will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, garlic bread, hot and cold beverages and homemade pies.

A concert will follow upstairs. Teresa Foye, Gail Lussier, Lynn Rathbun and Bill and Phyllis Barker are some of the entertainers. The cost for the evening is adults, $6; children 12 and under, $3.

Trails workshop

BETHEL – Bethel Area Trails and the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce will host a public trail planning workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Telstar High School (snow date, Feb. 3).

The purpose is to discuss a draft concept plan for trail development for the Bethel area based upon the trail user survey compiled last fall and to encourage participants to help guide the trail planning process. All are welcome.
