PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will have its monthly dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, South Paris.

The caller will be George McGibbon, who will call a mixture of class level and plus level square dancing. A 1 will be offered at intermission.

The round dance cuer will be Lila Heath, who will cue easy and intermediate round dancing. Square and round dancers throughout Maine and New Hampshire are invited.

Bridge play

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge held the first bridge game of the New Year on Friday. Winners were: first, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; and third, Carol Curran and Bev Dolan.

A Near No Bottoms game will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14. The pair attaining no zeros or the closest to no zeros will win the No Bottoms Distinction Award. All bridge players are welcome. Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge meets at 9 a.m. every Friday at the Fare Share Coop Commons, 445 Main St. Parking and entrance are behind the building. Refreshments are served. Sermon topic

NORWAY – The sermon topic for the 11 a.m. worship on Sunday, Jan. 16, at the Universalist Church of Norway, UU, will be “Martin Luther King’s Conversion and How it Happened,” led by the Rev. Joy D. Gasta, with Music Director Heather Pierson. Child care is provided and all are welcome.

School news

WEST PARIS – The Agnes T. Gray School third- and fourth-grade basketball season will start Saturday, Jan. 15, with West Paris playing Oxford Elementary at 9 a.m. at the Agnes L. Gray School gym.

The game will be followed by the fifth- and sixth-graders playing against the Otisfield fifth- and sixth-graders at 10:15 a.m., also at the gym.

As Monday, Jan. 17, is Martin Luther King Day, schools will be closed. Thursday, Jan. 20, will be an early release date. School will let out at 12:30 p.m. for a teachers’ workshop day.
