RUMFORD – The men and women of the class of 1954 from Stephens High School will meet for luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the River Valley Diner on Exchange Street.

RUMFORD – The Rumford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, in the conference room at the Municipal Building, Congress Street.

The speaker will be Joe Sirois, who will give the history of the ARC working with the mentally retarded in the area. He will include the formation of Hope School and the acquisition of the Armory building and his hopes for the future.

All are invited to the meeting and President Bill Weston will give an update on the status of Leana and Burn’s book, “The History of Rumford, Maine.”

RUMFORD – The women of Stephens High School class of 1948 will meet at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Penalty Box on Exchange Street. Call Colleen at 364-3553 if planning to attend.

RUMFORD – Members of the Stephens High School class of 1949 will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Island Cafe on Congress Street.

Authors book

RUMFORD – Rich Rockwood, former local man, has penned his second book on investing, “The Focus Investor.” The book is about investing money in the stock market.

Rockwood is a graduate of Rumford High School, class of 1989. He has served in the Air Force and graduated from Indiana University in 1999. He is married to Julie Wren of Caselton, Ind.

They live in Fishers, Iowa, and have a daughter, Kathryn, who is a year old. His Web site is www.Focusinvestor.com/book1.HTM.

Results night

DIXFIELD – Dirigo High School will host its second annual PSAT results night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, in the Student Community Center for sophomores and juniors who took the PSATs and their parents. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided.

Denis Fortier of the Maine Occupational Information Coordinating Committee will be on hand, and PSAT scores will be handed out.
