AUBURN – Winthrop author Carol Shorey Dean will visit the Auburn Public Library Kids’ Room at the Auburn Mall at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22.

Dean will read several stories, including her newest book, “The Henhouse,” a story based on a true and exciting experience from her young life growing up on her family’s chicken farm in Monroe.

“The Henhouse: A True Story of Life on a Maine Farm” is illustrated in watercolor by another central Maine artist, Sandra Dunn.

After sharing stories, Dean will answer questions from the audience, then sign her books. A portion of each sale will be donated to the library. Soft, plush hens to accompany the books will also be available for sale.

The program will appeal most to children in kindergarten through fourth-grade and their families. All are invited to attend. In case of inclement weather, the snow date is 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29.
