Gray wants an electric railway. Surely her desires are not in any way limited and there can be but little doubt this would be a wonderful help and addition to the town. • Gov. Muskie signed today the first acts of the 97th Legislature – four measures accepting ex. Gov. Percival P. Baxter’s latest gifts to his state. The House and Senate swiftly gave final passage to the legislation which accepts 2,000 acres of Piscataquis County wilderness as an addition to Baxter State Park; confirms last year’s acceptance of another 14,000 acres and lifts, in part of the 170,000 acre park, a prohibition against hunting.

Erickson of the University of Maine’s Horticultural Dept. was one of three speakers who spoke to association members at a session of the 14th Annual Agricultural Trades Show held a Lewiston Armory. Some 6,000 chickens went for an unexpected rollercoaster-like ride early this morning when a Hillcrest truck overturned on Crowley Road near the Lewiston line. Richard P. Laliberte, 37, of Webster Corner Road, who was operating the vehicle, was treated at a Lewiston hospital for back injuries and later released. It took crews 2 wreckers and three hours to raise the truck, a 1972 International, back to an upright position. The truck had apparently just been loaded with chickens at the Hillcrest farm further east on Crowley Road.
