BRADFORD (AP) – A mobile home fire in this Penobscot County town early Tuesday killed a 49-year-old man.
The body of Randall Brackett Sr. was found in the rear bedroom of the dwelling, which was flattened by the flames, according to the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
Because of the extent of the destruction, the cause of the fire will be recorded as undetermined, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Public Safety Department.
Three investigators battled frigid temperatures as they examined the scene and sought to notify Brackett’s relatives.
The fire began around 4 a.m. at the home on the Middle Road, and a neighbor spotted it and called police. It also destroyed Brackett’s car and a nearby storage building.
