BANGOR (AP) – A Bucksport man who formerly taught in elementary school pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court to possessing child pornography.

The case against Gerald Bailey, 55, arose in January 2002 when two students at Holbrook Elementary School in Holden reported to the principal that they had seen him looking at pornographic images on a computer in his classroom.

After computer experts determined that numerous child pornography sites had been accessed from the computer, Bailey admitted to police that he had been using it to seek out and view pornographic images.

The one count of possessing child pornography is punishable by up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
