LEWISTON – Shamus O’Brien, Maine director for the Mrs. America Pageant system, is announcing that the search is on for the new Mrs. Lewiston.

Once selected, the community representative will advance to the Mrs. Maine-America Pageant on May 28 at the City Theater in downtown Biddeford. City and county title holders will compete to win thousands of dollars in prizes, one of which includes an all-expense paid trip to the Mrs. America Pageant in Palm Springs, Calif.

Interested applicants must live or work in the Lewiston area, must be married during the time of competition, be a resident of the state for at least six months, a U.S. citizen and be at least 18 years old. There is no age limit or performing talent.

While beauty is a key element in the competition, Mrs. Maine contestants are also urged to voice their opinions on marriage and issues of the day.

Interested applicants are invited to find out more about the competition on the Web site at www.mrsmaine.org or can request and receive free entry information by contacting O’Brien at the Mrs. Maine-America office at (860) 514-1907.
