LEWISTON – The Longley-Dionne Post 9150, VFW, and Auxiliary will meet at noon Sunday, Jan. 30, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St.

All members are encouraged to attend. The agenda will include membership and future VFW programs. All eligible veterans wishing to join the Veterans of Foreign Wars should attend.

Seniors meeting

AUBURN – First Auburn Seniors will meet Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Hasty Community Center, Pettengill Park. The board of directors will convene at 10 a.m. and the regular meeting will start at 11.

Tickets may be purchased for the Feb. 16 Valentine luncheon. A super bingo will be held after the bag lunch. The monthly raffle and the regular pot of gold drawings will be held.

Vice President Nancy Roy conducted the meeting on Jan. 19 in the absence of President Betty Hebert. Members observed a moment of silence for recently deceased members Roger Goding Sr. and Carola Randall.

Roy announced the food auction will be held on Wednesday, March 2. Joyce Poole announced a March 20 trip to see Hal Roach, “King of Blarney,” in Leominster, Mass.; a three-day, two-night trip to Cape Cod on May 24; and a Country Jubilee Show on Thursday, May 19. She also has other trips planned for July and December. The trips are open to all on a first-come, first-serve basis.

A new member, Ralph Lashua, was introduced to the 61 members in attendance. Attendance winners were Pat Donohue and Marilyn Redmun; pot of gold, Thelma Scanlon, Phyllis Lattlippe and Lorraine Marcous. Following a spaghetti and meatballs luncheon, bingo was played.

Blood drive

LEWISTON – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the Lepage Conference Center, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Although walk-in donors are welcome, potential donors are asked to call Volunteer Services at 777-8369 to schedule an appointment.

WALES – Androscoggin Pomona Grange 1 will meet at Wales Grange on Wednesday, Feb. 2, for a 6:30 supper. The business meeting will begin at 7:30.

The program will be under the direction of the Family Health and Hearing Committee, Hilarie Morris, chairwoman. An attendance drawing will be held. All members and guests are welcome.

Camp event

AUBURN – Auburn Camp 8794, Modern Woodmen of America, has invited members, family and friends to a church supper from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at St. Louis Church, Third Street. Cost is $4 for adults and $1 for children under 12. Tickets may be purchased at the office, 67 Minot Ave.; 783-8804.

Camera course

AUBURN – Auburn Adult and Community Education will offer a class, “First Photos,” a two-week introduction to digital photography, on Tuesdays, Feb. 8 and 15.

Participants will learn about image resolution and photo size, saving digital negatives and sharing photos. The class is taught by local digital photographer Tammie Grieshaber and is limited to 10 students.

There will be a second session on Mondays, May 9 and 16. All classes will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edward Little High School. Cost is $40 a session.

Walk canceled

WINTHROP – Due to scheduling conflicts, the Winthrop High School Tsunami Relief Walk-A-Thon will not be rescheduled.

Anyone who would like to contribute to the relief fund is asked to send donations to Cara Anderman, AmeriCorps VISTA, Winthrop High School, 211 Rambler Road, Winthrop, ME 04364. Checks can be made out to Winthrop High School.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Jan. 25 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; second, Alberta Turner and Roger Briggs; third, Maude Abbott and Claire Lyons; fourth, Mary Leahey and Jeanine Kivus.

Flight B winners were: first, Alberta Turner and Roger Briggs; second, Maude Abbott and Claire Lyons. Flight C winners were Terry Gendron and Larry Fortier.

Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1 at the center. A partner is guaranteed.

There was no game held at Schooner Estates in Auburn on Jan. 26 due to the storm. Another game will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2.
