JAY -The Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 Auxiliary is sponsoring a Valentine dinner and dance to benefit Operation Uplink, a program that keeps active-duty military personnel and hospitalized veterans in touch with their families and loved ones by providing them with a free phone cards.

Operation Uplink purchases phone cards and distributes them to servicemen and women who are separated from those they care about.

More than 2,000,000 phone cards have been distributed since 1996. Operation Uplink is supported and sustained by donations, the majority of which come from VFW and Auxiliary members.

The benefit will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, at VFW Post 3335, Jewell Street. The $15 a person ticket price includes a prime rib dinner and dance with music by Alibi. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with the dance from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are by advance sale only and may be purchased at the post. Call 897-5112 for more information.

Those unable to attend who would like to make a donation can send a check made out to VFW Post 3335 Auxiliary and mail it to VFW Post 3335 Auxiliary, 64 Jewell St., Jay, ME 04239, noting that the donation is for Operation Uplink.
