MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society has sent two town record books, which were badly deteriorated, to be rebound. The cost of work on the books, dated 1914 to 1917 and 1912 to 1922, was $1,500. The society plans to have more rebound this year. The newly bound books are available at the Mexico Town Hall Office.

The scholarship fund has been set aside. Scholarships will be awarded to two students, one male and one female, going into a history major.

Members are looking for more fund-raisers and are planning a public supper in March.

Elections were held and the slate of officers for 2005-2006 is: president, Irene Hutchinson; vice president, Bea Shaw Preblod; secretary, Carol Gallant; treasurer, Connie Tutlis; a new board member, Ray Mawhinney.

The group meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. for a hot dish supper, followed by a meeting and guest speaker. All are invited to join and dues are $5 a year. The society is open Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 3 Oxford St.
