AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is announcing that Pilates training will be incorporated into four existing exercise classes. The classes will be run by certified Pilates instructor Tish Caldwell, YMCA wellness coordinator.

“Pilates is an unbeatable combination that increases strength and flexibility,” Caldwell said. “It is a whole body exercise program that simultaneously strengthens and lengthens your muscles, improves posture and increases your energy.”

Pilates is an efficient way of stabilizing and strengthening the core, arms and legs, while increasing flexibility. Participants see and feel the benefits of Pilates quickly. Each exercise can be customized allowing anyone to participate regardless of fitness level.

Pilates will be part of the following classes:

Monday: Pilates, noon to 12:30 p.m.; Heavy Hands, 12:30 to 1 p.m.

Tuesday: Pilates, 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.; Step, 5:45 to 6:15 p.m.

Wednesday: Pilates, 9:15 to 9:55 a.m.; Step, 9:55 to 10:30 a.m.

Thursday: Pilates, 4 to 4:30 p.m.; Step, 4:30 to 5 p.m.

Participants are welcome to attend one or both sessions. All exercise classes are included in the all-inclusive YMCA membership.
