NORWAY – Norway Bridge Club met Feb. 4 at the Fair Share Commons where a 3 table Howell game was played. Finishing first in A were Dick Horne and Tom Rowe; second, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements; third, Richard Allen and Pete Cummings. First in B were Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements; second, Mimi Bell and Jim Dickens.

Games are at 9 a.m. every Friday at the Fare Shear Commons, Main Street. A partner is guaranteed for each player there 10 minutes before playing time. For information, contact Les Buzzell at 754-9153.

A new game will be held at 12:45 p.m. Sundays at the Amvets Hall, Route 100, New Gloucester. A partner is guaranteed if there 10 minutes before playing time. Social bridge players, with or without a partner, are invited. For information, call Buzzell. The first game was held Feb. 6.

Sunday service

NORWAY – The topic for the Sunday, Feb. 13, worship service at the Norway Universalist Church, UU, will be “Valentine’s Day and the Many and Unusual Ways We Show Our Love for One Another Throughout the Year.” It will be led by the Rev. Joy Gasta at 11 a.m. All are welcome.

AARP speaker

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet at 1:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at the VFW Hall, East Main Street, South Paris. The speaker will be Pat Pulkkinen, on “Let’s Talk from the Heart,” sponsored by the American Heart Association. There will be Valentine festivities and attendees are encouraged to wear red. People age 50 and over are welcome.

Appreciation day

NORWAY – Aubuchon Hardware will hold its fourth annual Community Appreciation Day on Saturday, Feb.12. The Norway store will donate a portion of the day’s proceeds to the Norway Fire Department.

On Community Appreciation Day a part of each store’s sales are earmarked for a local charity that was chosen by the store manager. The Norway manager is Robert E. Young.
