WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Historical Society Museum will highlight the decorative arts this year. Its furniture is especially notable.
Upstairs and down, there is country furniture, including the George England Collection handmade by Indians. There are also high style pieces such as an empire settee, a Duncan Phyfe mahogany table and a smaller walnut table.
In addition, an outstanding collection of glass is featured, and china includes Chelseaware and two sets of dinner plates. Quilts and costumes abound. And, finally, a sampling of art from the area is arranged in a gallery on the second floor.
Other items include musical instruments, tools, farm implements, old photos and a library of books used for research. Paper materials are in albums and file cabinets.
Meetings are being held during the winter at 7 p.m. each second Saturday at the Town Hall Complex.
