TURNER – Have you ever seen a character in a movie and wanted to re-create their outfit for a play, Halloween, or some other occasion? The Turner Public Library will sponsor a workshop, “Re-creating Movie Costumes: Where do I Start?”. Jen Running Deer, a native of Maine, will share her expertise on the subject at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, in the Leavitt Area High School auditorium, Lower Street.

Jen owns a business called The Masquerade Lab near Seattle, Wash. She graduated from Bonny Eagle High School and Dartmouth College before moving to the Northwest.

In addition to owning The Masquerade Lab, she is a lab scientist at a medical research facility in Bothell, Wash.

At The Masquerade Lab, they specialize in science fiction, fantasy and animal costumes. Jen has won a number of awards for her work. Some of her designs can be found at www.themasqueradelab.com. These include costumes from “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Alien.”

The program should last approximately an hour with time for questions.

The Turner Public Library is located in the Leavitt Institute Building, Turner Center. The library, which is on the lower level of the building, is in the process of renovating space upstairs in the building, which will become its new home.

The library hours are noon to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
