LEWISTON – St. Joseph’s Parish will hold a Lenten Lecture and Luncheon every Thursday after the noon Mass during Lent. The lecture and lunch will be held in the parish hall.

The speaker on Thursday, Feb. 17, will be Sister Sylvia Genesse of the Marie Joseph Spiritual Center. Genesse will offer a reflection on “The Psalms: Prayers for Real People” after the eucharistic celebration.

A native of Auburn, Genesse graduated from Edward Little High School and joined the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary a few years later. She taught in Massachusetts and Maine parish schools administered by the Congregation of the Presentation of Mary.

Genesse obtained a master’s in education from the University of Maine in Orono and studied at St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vt., where she received a master’s in pastoral ministry and spirituality.

Genesse is a staff member at Marie Joseph Spiritual Center in Biddeford Pool. She is involved in her community’s ministry and enjoys facilitating a monthly share group for women and journeying with those who seek spiritual direction on a retreat.
