CANTON – Red Hatters were invited to a special tea hosted recently by the Grammy’s Choice Quilters. The group created a stir with their red hats and lacy gloves.

Other guests were Ladies of the Lake Quilters from the Rumford area and the Village Scrappers from Livermore. All three groups are in Western Maine, Area 3, and are part of the state organization, the Pine Tree Quilters’ Guild.

Common to the gathering of quilters is sharing their work. Guests and members of Grammy’s Choice brought a variety for show n tell. Full-sized quilts were shown as well as works in progress, holiday quilts, miniature quilts, theme quilts and special occasion quilts. One quilter made fabric bowls.

Following the tea, the quilters mingled to check out one another’s work and discuss techniques they had mastered.

The Grammy’s Choice Quilters meet at 10 a.m. on the first and third Wednesday of the month at Central Municipal Hall. Part of their program is making quilts for charity and various causes.

Anyone interested in quilting is invited to visit or join.
