AUBURN – As part if its Wellness 101 series, the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA will offer two free exercise workshops to give participants an opportunity to sample several types of classes.

The Wellness 101 series is designed to introduce the principles of several wellness issues that face society today. The YMCA’s goal is to help individuals in the L/A community make informed and educated decisions on healthy lifestyles. Past Wellness 101 workshops have focused on strength-training, nutrition, stress management and pilates.

Instructors will demonstrate, along with class participation, the fundamentals and proper technique for step aerobics, heavy hands, pump, yoga, pilates and the use of the stability ball, resistance tubing and the medicine ball.

The workshops will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 23. Both workshops will be identical, with the first from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. and the second from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m.

While the sessions are free, participants are asked to register by Tuesday, Feb. 22. To register or for more information, people can call the YMCA at 795-4095, stop by at 62 Turner St. or visit the Web at www.alymca.com.
