OXFORD – Anderson-Staples Post 112, American Legion, met Feb. 14 when members and honored guests were served a spaghetti and meatball dinner. The post hosted five guests and their families at the recognition dinner and presentation.

The Legion is made up of military veterans who answered the call to protect America. Today they support those who serve America in civilian and military roles and give thanks for their service.

The post recognized five residents, presenting them with the American Legion Post 112 “Life Saving Award” for outstanding service to the community and their acts of heroism, resourcefulness and skill.

Awards and plaques were presented to Brenda Sawyer, Oxford Fire and Rescue; Raymond Reece; Capt. David Heidrich, Oxford Fire Department; Capt. John Moynihan, Oxford Fire and Rescue; and Officer Alan Coffin, Oxford Police Department.

The Cub and Boy Scouts of Pack and Troop 196 waited on tables and helped with kitchen clean-up.
