LEWISTON – Lewiston Adult Education has a cure for cabin fever. The following classes will be offered on Saturday, March 5, for fun and learning:

Scrapbooking workshop: The all-day crop provides uninterrupted time to gather photo album ideas and crop along with friends and family. Album display and supplies will be available for purchase from the instructor. Beginners are welcome to the event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

MS Excel: Basic Excel, part of MS Office XP, is one of the most powerful electronic spreadsheet programs on the market. The course covers skills for creating, managing, saving and retrieving spreadsheets with ease and accuracy. It is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

MS Powerpoint: Create visual presentations using the program, which is part of MS Office XP. The class will teach the basics of creating an electronic slide show, graphic slides, handouts and presenter materials. Experience with Windows and Word or WordPerfect is recommended. It will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Yoga and meditation retreat: Discover various meditation techniques and the link between breathing and emotions. Practice yogic breathing. Learn basic body postures and achieve instant flexibility, poise and build strength. Beginners and advanced students are welcome. Bring a cushion and mat and dress in comfortable clothes. It will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Skinny on Fad Diets: Learn how to recognize the good and bad points of the more popular diet plans such as Atkins, South Beach, Sugar Busters and Weight Watchers. Students will cook and share some easy, healthy dishes that highlight the good aspects of the diet plans that will help participants get on the road to a lifetime of healthier eating. The class is co-sponsored by Lots to Gardens. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
