FRYEBURG – The Fryeburg Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the American Legion Hall, Bradley Street.

The program will be “The History of Celtic Instruments,” presented by Stow resident and local musician Davey Armstrong. A musical demonstration of his knowledge and multi-skilled talent will follow.

Charity auction

WOODSTOCK – Mt. Abram Family Ski Resort will hold its annual charity auction starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Loose Boots Lounge.

VFW supper

PARIS – VFW Post 9787 and Auxiliary will meet on Wednesday, March 2, with a supper to be served at 6 p.m. Members are asked to bring a casserole or dessert. The meeting will follow. All veterans and their spouses are welcome. Those wanting more information can call 743-0947.

Sunday topic

PARIS – Silver Moore-Leamon will lead the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Feb. 27, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris.

In her sermon, “The Tao of You,” she will explore the idea “that lots of people seem angry and that, perhaps, at its root is that much of this anger comes from feeling as though we are not able to be who we were created to be.”

The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist. Renee Wales will direct Sunday school and child care is provided. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Writing workshop

PARIS – A writing workshop will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street. Sharon Bouchard will facilitate the workshop and participants will explore and work on different styles of writing. It is open to the public free, and preregistration is not required. Refreshment will be served.
