LEWISTON – The Lewiston/Auburn Toastmasters Club 1741 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the Bates Mill Complex, first-floor conference room, 35 Canal St.

The speakers will be Teresa Weeks, Alice Flanders and George Greenwood. Table topics for the evening will be lead by Bob Sawyer.

Widows to meet

LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Widow Fellowship will meet on Monday, March 7, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering begins at 11:30 a.m. followed at noon with a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited. Short trips are planned during the year.

Lenten speaker

AUBURN – The Court Street Baptist Church invites the public to attend the Tuesday noon Lenten services on March 8, 15 and 22.

Each service will consist of scripture, sermonette and special music. Organist is Charles Marshall. Guest pastors will be the Rev. Dr. Foster Williams, the Rev. Allison VanderLinden and the Rev. Laura Holt-Haslam.

Each service will be followed by a home-style meal served in the vestry. A donation of $4 is asked to cover the food expenses.

Talk on Indians

LISBON FALLS – Mark LaRoche will present “Local Indians” when he speaks at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at the Lisbon Historical Society Archives Museum, MTM Center, School Street.

LaRoche has done research on the subject and will have a number of artifacts available. The public is welcome to the free program. The building is handicapped accessible.

Food for thought

LEWISTON – The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon program at USM/Lewiston-Auburn on Friday, March 11, will feature presentations by the instructors scheduled for the upcoming Senior College spring semester courses.

A greater than ever number of courses is being offered for the eight-week period beginning April 4 and will be described by the instructors.

The program will be held in the function room at the college beginning at noon. The cost, which includes lunch, is $5 with advance reservation or $7 at the door. The door will open at 11:30 a.m., and reservation may be made at 753-6510 or online at www.usm.maine.edu/lac by Thursday, March 10.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Feb. 22 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Flight A winners were: tied at first, Dick Horne and Tom Rowe with Eleanor Abraham and Claire Lyons and Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, David Lock and Lucille Theriault.

Flight B winners were: first, Eleanor Abraham and Claire Lyons; second, Larry Fortier and Terry Gendron. Winners in Flight C were Larry Fortier and Terry Gendron.

Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the center. A partner is guaranteed.

The club also met on Feb. 23 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Sherry Hinckley and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Luke Merry and Mary Leahey; third, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus; fourth, Anna Vitiello and Lucille Theriault. Flight B winners were Roger Briggs and Claire Lyons.
