LEWISTON – St. Joseph’s Parish will hold its Lenten Lecture and Luncheon after the noon Mass on Thursday, March 3. The speaker will be Sister Elizabeth Platt, pastoral associate of the Auburn Catholic Community.

A native of Pennsylvania, she has been involved in the Diocese in Portland since 1973, where she served as pastoral associate at St. Dominic Parish before coming to Auburn.

Platt has served as regional resource person for Region 3, which includes Lewiston-Auburn.

The lecture and lunch will be held in the parish hall. All are invited.

Art club speaker

AUBURN – The Auburn Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, March 7, at the High Street Congregational Church. Dennis Sweetser will speak on “The Women of the Civil War.” Afternoon tea and refreshments will be served by hostess, Joan Libby, and her committee, Avis Grant, Edwina Pontbriand and Dorothy Prince.

Meeting canceled

AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens meeting, to have been held Wednesday, March 2, has been canceled.

Meeting program

AUBURN – Androscoggin Retired Educators will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Central Maine Community College. Lunch will be served at noon. A program will be presented by the Maine Wildlife Park staff in Gray.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Feb. 28 were: first, Barbara Beegel and Allie Boyer; and second, Patricia Daley amd Agnes Winn; third, Mimi Bell and Dick Allen; fourth, Anna Vitiello and Randy Silver; fifth, Claire Tewhey and Charlie Bartlett.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays, a mini-lesson is given, and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734 for more information.

Registrations for the bridge intermediate course are being accepted at the Lewiston Adult Education Office, 795-4141.
