A1C Jacob Witham has completed the first phase of his military commitment. After graduating from Leavitt Area High School in 2004, he enlisted for six years in the Air National Guard on Sept. 24, joining the 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor.
Witham left on Oct. 26 for Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, to complete basic training, where he studied many military subjects. He returned home on Dec. 10.
Witham is now waiting to attend a 20-week medical technician school at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. While he waits he will attend his monthly drills at Bangor in the 101st Medical Group and plans to use his military college benefits to further his civilian education.
Witham is the son of Carl and Bonnie Witham of Turner.
