LOVELL – Voters will elect a town clerk and a selectman, and decide on a dog ordinance at the annual town meeting Saturday.

A total of 95 articles is on the warrant. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at the town hall.

No Lovell selectmen could be reached for comment Wednesday. Last year, voters approved a municipal budget of $587,538.

Among the elected positions to be filled Saturday will be a three-year term for town clerk and treasurer; a three-year term for selectman, assessor and overseer of the poor; and a one-year term for building inspector. The selectmen also will request nominations for the position of code enforcement officer, which is to be appointed by the board.

Seats on the Lovell Planning Board and Budget Committee are among the positions to be filled at the town meeting.

Among the more sizable budget requests are those from the Lovell Volunteer Fire Company. The Lovell Budget Committee has recommended a $30,000 appropriation for the department’s capital fund in anticipation of needed equipment, a $40,000 appropriation for the fire protection operating account, and a $10,000 appropriation for the department truck fund.

Another large request is for $95,000 to operate the town’s waste facilities.

The Budget Committee has recommended rolling over balances for the Lovell Web Site Committee account, the Lovell Town Office Search Committee and a dock inventory. The amounts are $5,000, $900 and $1,370, respectively.

Voters also on Saturday will vote on an ordinance to prohibit dog owners from allowing “continued or repeated barking, howling or other loud or unusual noises any time day or night” by their pets. The ordinance would establish a $50 fine for such offenses.

The town also seeks changes to the Lovell Zoning Ordinance that would allow cluster developments, and alter the town’s open space preservation and subdivision design standards.
