AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet Monday, March 7, at the Odd Fellows Hall, 50 Elm St., for a 6 p.m. supper preceding the meeting at 7. Rebekah Assembly of Maine Warden Helen Witham of Oakland will make her official visit.

The lodge will present a tableau depicting the program of Assembly President Roxanne Andrews of Westport Island.

The president’s emblem is the lighthouse. She said, “The lighthouse symbolizes faithfulness, steadfastness, clarity and hope. As Rebekahs we must be faithful, steady, clear and have hope for our light to continue to shine into the future through our good deeds.”

Her motto is “Let Your Light Shine Before All”; her hymn, “The Lighthouse”; and her song, “I Saw the Light,” which will be sung by Margaret Sjostrom of Liberty 94, past noble grand and past district deputy president.

Dance classes

LEWISTON – Irish dancing classes will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. from March 7 through May 23 at St. Patrick’s Church Hall, Blake and Walnut streets. No partner is needed. Anyone wanting more information should call 933-9761.

POLAND – The Androscoggin County Firefighters Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at the Poland Fire Station.

Dube to speak on Franco history

AUBURN – Rita Dube of the Franco-American Heritage Center will be the featured speaker at a meeting of the Woman’s Literary Union at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St.

She will cover the history of the Franco-Americans in the Lewiston/Auburn community and the acquisition of the former St. Mary’s Church.

Dube will describe the plans in progress that include a performance hall, heritage museum, learning center and a French library. She also will talk about the projects and events that take place in the center.

Refreshments will be served, and the public is invited.

LaLeche League

AUBURN – The LaLeche League offers breastfeeding information and encouragement to pregnant women, new mothers and growing families. All interested women are invited to attend a meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at 102 Bennett Ave.

Babies are always welcome. All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion in addition to the scheduled topic, “Breastfeeding: Great Beginnings,” which will focus on avoiding and overcoming difficulties. Yard sale set

SABATTUS – The Jacques Cartier Club will hold its annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21, at the club.

If anyone has items that are clean and in working condition that they would like to donate they can call 375-6214 for pick up. The club cannot accept televisions, computers or refrigerators. Tables are available for rent at $10.

Manville donates to Red Cross

LEWISTON – Johns Manville, a Berkshire Hathaway company and a manufacturer and marketer of building and specialty products, has presented a $200,000 donation to the Red Cross International Response Fund at the offices of the American Red Cross Mile High Chapter in Denver.

The donation was in addition to $50,000 raised by JM employees around the world for various tsunami relief activities. JM matched its employee contributions and included the matching funds in its donation to the Red Cross. The total for employee and company contributions to tsunami relief efforts was $250,000.
