AUBURN – The Child Health Center will join with Emerson Chevrolet to offer those who transport children regularly the opportunity to learn more about child passenger safety and the use of car seats.

Certified child passenger safety technicians will be at Emerson Chevrolet, 279 Center St., from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 5. The event is a collaborative effort between the Child Health Center, which is the Androscoggin County Chapter of Maine Safe KIDS, Emerson and the Maine Coalition of SAFE KIDS.

Patricia Valeriani, certified child passenger safety technician and ProtectME coordinator for the Child Health Center, was recently available at Emerson Chevrolet to answer questions and provide literature regarding the use of safety seats.

Valeriani said, “This was the first collaboration between Emerson Chevrolet and the Child Health Center’s Androscoggin County Chapter of Maine SAFE KIDS designed to help parents and caregivers opportunities to ensure that their children are traveling as safe as possible.

“We will be following this informational event up with a check-up event on Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to noon. At this event those transporting children will have the opportunity to have the installation of their child passenger safety seats checked by certified child passenger safety technicians to ensure that they are installed properly, are appropriate for their vehicle and their child and ensure that the child is harnessed correctly.”
