AUBURN – In cooperation with the cities of Lewiston and Auburn, Bates College will present the second “Festival d’Art,” a showcase for local performers and visual artists, from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Great Falls School on Academy Street.

The festival will be held in the school’s gymnasium and adjoining auditorium.

The event will feature talent from the region, including painters, woodcarvers, dancers and musicians.

Many artists will offer their work for sale.

“The event is seen as a way to celebrate local artistic talent, culture and diversity,” said Bates senior Jason Rafferty, an event organizer.

“Furthermore, it’s meant to underscore the growing connection of college and community.” The first Festival d’Art was produced three years ago.

“Through my involvement organizing this event, I’ve been amazed at the sense of pride that people have in this community,” Rafferty says. “This year we salute the growth and diversity of artistic talent and culture that make us the community we are.”

The festival is free. For more information, people can call (207) 786-8273.
