WALES – A surprise party was held recently for Donald and Evelyn Waterman of Wales, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. The event was planned by their children, David, James and Tom Waterman and Donna Douglass and was held at the Bowdoin Community Center.

The couple received a corsage and boutonniere. A collage of pictures was featured on the wall and gold balloons decorated the hall. Tom and Julie Waterman presented a slide show of their 50 years together and on display was a photo quilt made by their daughter-in-law, Jennifer Waterman. The cake was made by Corinna Rowe, a friend of the family. Special photo T-shirts were presented to them at their arrival. James Waterman, their son, was toastmaster.

Mr. Waterman and the former Evelyn Trafton were married on June 12, 1954, at North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford. Their children are David Waterman and Carol Brewster, Thomas and Julie Waterman, James and Jennifer Waterman and Donna and Troy Douglass. Their grandchildren are Matthew Waterman, Rachel Hanscom, Michael and Patrick Waterman and Cora, Charlotte and Sadie Waterman.

Mr. and Mrs. Waterman have been co-owners and operators of Waterman Farm Machinery Co. for the past 48 years. They are members of the Community Free Baptist Church in Sabattus, the Squiretown Square Dancers and the Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club. He is past president of the New England Equipment Dealers Association and is a former member of the Sabattus School Board, where he served for 16 years. Both are part of the Friday Night Couples Club.

Original wedding attendants present were Gloria (Trafton) Earley, sister and maid of honor of Mrs. Waterman, Norma (Bessey) Colby, cousin of Mr. Waterman, Gordon Mitchell, cousin of Mr. Waterman, and Robert Waterman, his brother and best man.

Over 100 family members and friends attended from the New England area.
