FARMINGTON – The Foothills Arts Center invites people of all ages to participate in the Continental Harmony Community Chorus and Theater project, “Songs and Stories of the Foothills.”

Rehearsals will be held Tuesday evenings at the Wilton Congregational Church beginning March 8 and ending with performances May 13 to 15 in Strong, Jay and Rumford. All levels of ability are welcome. There are no auditions. Participants can join by going to the first rehearsal or by calling to sign up.

The youth chorus, for grades one and up, will rehearse from 6:30 to 7 p.m. The inter-generational chorus, for adults and youth grades three and up, will rehearse from 7 to 9 p.m.

The choruses will sing songs from Foothill’s original musicals (1994-2001), as well as new story songs and folk ballads written by local songwriters.

The theater piece is a new Foothills short, lively play that ties together all of the songs. There are parts for men, women, teenagers and younger children. At the first chorus rehearsal, people will find out the details about the play and have an opportunity to sign up for parts.

Leading the rehearsals will be conductor Dan Woodward, accompanist Patricia Hayden, theater director Sarah Levensalor and project director Anne Geller.

There is a fee to participate in “Songs and Stories of the Foothills” and there are special reduced fees for people who cannot afford the full cost.

For more information or to sign up for the chorus or play, contact Anne Geller at 778-0448 or [email protected] There are also more details at www.foothillsarts.org.
