LEWISTON – Don Linscott, coordinator for the AARP Free Taxes for the Elderly and Low and Medium Income Taxpayer program, has announced an extension of free tax preparation from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street.
Appointments should be made through Thelma at the Lewiston Senior Citizens by calling 782-6873, ext. 207, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
All the tax preparers have been tested and certified through a test administrated by the IRS and the AARP. They have not been trained and are restricted from filing Schedule C, E, amended returns and complex capital gains.
All taxes will be e-filed and refunds can be expected, if direct deposited in a checking or savings account, between seven and 10 days.
