LEWISTON – The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation has awarded a grant of $10,000 to The Public Theatre toward the $2.4 million capital campaign to improve the interior and exterior of the historic Ritz Theater in downtown Lewiston.
The Public Theatre provides professional theater to the people of central Maine and has become a cornerstone in the area’s cultural life. The renovation will improve the Public Theatre’s production capabilities. The new facility has been designed by the architectural firm of Platz Associates.
The foundation’s award signifies its commitment to support initiatives that have broad-based appeal in all forms of creative art. These programs also provide a form for artistic interest in the region. The Foundation also is committed to supporting activities that enhance the role of art organizations as economic enterprises.
