FARMINGTON – Farmington Board of Selectmen’s meeting has been postponed to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the Town Office.

Date changed

FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue Youth Cheering banquet and awards night has been postponed until 5 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Mt. Blue High School due to inclement weather. The evening will begin with a potluck supper, and those attending are asked to bring a dish to share. Awards will be given at 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Farmington Emblem Club.

Postponement

JAY – Due to inclement weather, the Jay Planning Board meeting, scheduled for March 8, has been postponed to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the Jay Community Building.

Rockets play

LIVERMORE FALLS – The Harlem Rockets, a comedy basketball team, will take on area Coaches and Teachers Dream Team at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the Livermore Falls High School gym. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. These may be purchased from Rosy’s Variety, Livermore Elementary and High schools, or from any member of the girls basketball team.

In addition to the halftime activities planned by the Rockets, a special halftime show is planned with the Monmouth Dribblers. The Monmouth Dribblers are a group of young players who put on a great dribbling and passing show.

The faculty team consists of Debbie Timberlake, Abby McPheters, Tom Marshall, Amy Druzba, Susan Knowles, Krystal LeClerc and coaches Frank Donald, Wes Saunders, Margaret LeClerc, Chris Bessey, Edwin Thompson, Jack Richards, Tim Madden and Greg Boivin.

Board meeting

FARMINGTON – Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its monthly board meeting from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 16, at the USDA Service Center, 107 Park St. The meeting is open to the public. Seniors to meet

LIVERMORE FALLS – Livermore Falls-Jay Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, at Murray Hall and hold a Chinese auction with food items only. A catered Easter meal will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 21, also at Murray Hall.

LIVERMORE FALLS – The American Baptist Women at First Baptist Church will hold a rummage and food sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 12, at the church.

Sunday supper

NEW SHARON – The Square and Compass Club will sponsor a smothered beef dinner from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at the New Sharon Methodist Church annex. The meal will cost $6.50.

Firemen to meet

NEW VINEYARD – The Franklin County Firemen’s Association will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Smith Hall. All fire department members and guests are invited. The agenda will be followed by a program, refreshments and drawing for door prizes. For more information, call the New Vineyard Fire Department.

School sale

LIVERMORE FALLS – The seventh grade at Livermore Falls Middle School will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the school. Proceeds will be used for a class trip to the Boston Science Museum. Anyone who would like to make a donation for the rummage sale may bring it to the school from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 18. Genealogical meet

FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter of the Maine Genealogical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Farmington Public Library. For the program, charter members will present information on plantations and deorganized towns in Franklin County. Emphasis will be on information that could be of value to the genealogist. Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome.
