SCARBOROUGH (AP) – A 15-year-old girl and a 20-year-old woman were hospitalized Tuesday after being found stabbed as part of what police said was an apparent suicide pact.

According to The Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram, officials retrieved a knife and a container of what they said could be poison from the scene.

Police Chief Robert Moulton said he did not believe anyone else was involved.

A Scarborough police official said the 20-year-old called police from a cellular telephone at about 5 p.m. and said she and a friend were bleeding and needed help.

Police arrived on the scene between Scarborough Middle School and the Scarborough Public Library almost immediately and found the two females, who were rushed to Maine Medical Center for treatment.
