FARMINGTON – Sen. Dennis Damon will outline the recently enacted tax reform package at the upcoming Western Maine Legislative Caucus scheduled for today at the University of Maine at Farmington. The event will begin with coffee at 7 a.m. and a free breakfast at 7:30 in North Dining Hall of Olson Student Center.

Damon served as the Senate chairman of the Joint Select Committee on Property Tax Reform. He was recently recognized by Gov. John Baldacci and Republican and Democratic lawmakers as a key figure in the successful passage of Maine’s most historic tax reform package in 30 years.

Damon is the Senate chairman of the Joint Standing Committee on Marine resources and is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Transportation.

Property tax reform remains his central focus and he is committed to advancing policies that build on the work of the property tax reform plan passed in January 2005.

Other areas of interest include promoting Maine’s business climate, education funding and support, transportation issues, the environment and marine resources.

The event is open to the public and no registration is required.
