WILTON – Franklin Grange 50 met Feb. 12 at the Flagg home for a potluck lunch followed by a meeting.

Special guests were Mavis Lane, junior deputy of the State Grange, and her husband, Wesley. Protem officers were steward, Thomas Saviello; assistants, Wesley and Mavis Lane; and chaplain, Thelma Frost.

At the March 12 meeting the group will judge entries for this year’s baking contest, which is molasses cookies. Any recipe may be used but no nuts or raisins are allowed. Entries need to have six cookies a plate with the person’s name, Grange and Pomona on the underside of the plate. There will be one winner for the men and one for the women.

Grange members have raffle tickets for sale for $5 each. Items include a Cub Cadet with a 42-inch mower deck, a Husgvarna trimmer, a $100 gift certificate from Wal-Mart or a one-week stay at a Sheraton’s Resort in Orlando, Fla., in April 2006.

Proceeds from the raffle will benefit various community service projects. Those who would like a ticket may call Lincoln Flagg at 645-2423 or Mike Flagg at 645-9861. The drawing will be held in October at the State Grange session.

Following the meeting, the group had an ice cream social with three flavors of homemade ice cream and everyone brought their favorite toppings.

At the March meeting, the lunch will be an old-fashioned box social where women prepare the feast and man bid on lunches. Proceeds will go to the Committee for Women’s Activities for their upcoming projects.

Club secretary Karen Flagg would also like to thank everyone who has been working on projects for Stitches from the Heart. Many packages have been sent throughout the state.
