CARTHAGE – The Carthage Historical Society will award a scholarship of $100 to Carthage high school graduating seniors who elect to attend post-secondary training in a recognized school or program.

Students applying for funding must do so in writing prior to Sunday, May 1, of the year in which they graduate. A letter of application should be sent to the Carthage Historical Society, c/o Joan McGill, 56 Berry Mills Road, Carthage, ME 04224.

A check for the scholarship will be issued to the student at the completion of the first semester of study. At that time, the student must send proof of enrollment and a copy of grades or transcript to the above address.

To receive the award the student must begin a program of study within 18 months of high school graduation.

Recipients of the award from the class of 2004 are Holly Gordon, University of Maine in Orono, and Shannon Irish, St. Joseph’s College, Standish.
