WAYNE – The community is invited to attend the Kennebec Land Trust’s 2005 Lyceum, “Landscape Painting and Conservation,” at 7 p.m. Thursdays, March 17, 24 and 31, at the Ladd Recreation Center, Gott Road.

The programs will focus on the connections between landscape painting and conservation. The trust winter lectures are modeled after the early New England lyceums that began in 1826 in Massachusetts. For many years New England lyceums hosted lectures, debates and concerts for public audiences.

The Kennebec Valley Art Association and the Ladd Recreation Center are co-sponsoring this year’s series. The programs and refreshments are free for trust and association members. The suggested donation for nonmembers is $5 an evening.

In the spring and summer the trust will offer two or three painting field trips to its properties. Participants will work with guest artists in various media. A benefit art exhibit featuring paintings of the trust lands will be held at Slate’s Restaurant in Hallowell in the fall.
