FARMINGTON – The SAD 9 Music Department has released the schedule of student concerts to be held during March in conjunction with the Music Educators National Conference Music in Our Schools Month.

Included will be student musicians in grades four to 12 from the Cascade Brook, Cape Cod Hill, Weld, Academy Hill, Mt. Blue middle and high schools.

The district choral musicians will host the Chorus Festival beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Mt. Blue High School gym. The fifth and sixth grade, middle school and high school choruses will be included.

Mt. Blue Voices will present a concert at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the high school lobby and the women’s ensemble, the Syncopations, will perform during the ice cream social after the concert in the cafeteria.

The Band-a-Rama concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, in Mt. Blue High School gym. Student musicians in grades five to 12 will perform in addition to a performance by the Mt. Blue High School jazz band.

The SAD 9 String Celebration for student musicians in grades four to 12 will be held Thursday, March 24, in the Mt. Blue High School gym. The 7 p.m. concert will also feature performances by the Mt. Blue Middle School Fiddlers and the Franklin County Fiddlers.

The Mt. Blue Music Boosters will host an ice cream social after each concert in the school cafeteria. The socials will help fund the music boosters summer music scholarship program, which is available to any SAD 9 music student in grades four to 12 who wishes to attend a summer music camp. Application forms will be available at each concert or through the student’s music teachers.

Snow date for the concerts is 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in the high school gym.
